A League Of Our Own

News from Governor Laura Kelly:

On Friday June 14th 2019 the Kansas Supreme Court ruled on the school funding case known as Gannon vs Kansas. The Court ruled the Kansas Legislature finally met it's responsibility to adequately fund public education.  This ends a years-long lawsuit. While the Court maintains jurisdiction over the case, its finally over, Laura Kelly states  "I voted for the increase in education funding to address the Court's direction to factor in inflation into the school finance formula."

June 19, 2019:   I applaud the Kansas Board of Regents and Regents institutions for answering my call to hold undergraduate tuition rates flat.  Given that tuition rates shot up an average of 37% since 2011, today's action could be the difference in whether some students are able to pursue higher education."  "We need to do all we can to ease the burden of the soaring cost of college for students in Kansas.  That's why it's necessary to protect the state revenue stream moving forward, so we can continue to invest in higher education, bring down tuition rates, and expand educational opportunities to even more Kansans in the future."

June 19, 2019:  Governor Laura Kelly Attended The Paris Air Show,  She states "it has been a tremendous experience.  I met with ambitious industry leaders from Kansas, and as always was impressed and encouraged by what we have accomplished in the state. I look forward to pursuing more ways to promote the industry and its potential for growth as a way to help power economic prosperity in Kansas.
